Editors’ Notes

Stevie Wonder's 2005 album A Time To Love, ten years in the waiting, shows his master's touch coming alive in the presence of an A-list of guest musicians: from Prince, Bonnie Raitt and Sir Paul McCartney to Kirk Franklin, India.Aria, Doug E. Fresh, Kim Burrell and Stevie's daughter Aisha Morris. Lesser artists get lost in such shuffles, but Wonder dominates the creative process. Whether he's dealing the brilliant hard funk of "So What The Fuss" (with Prince and En Vogue) or singing sweetly on the instant-classic ballad "Moon Blue," he reaches artistic heights unattainable to mortals. Having his daughter aid him on "How Will I Know" brings the artistic family full circle. Bonnie Raitt contributes uplifting slide guitar for "Tell Your Heart I Love You" and Wonder responds with a vocal that's tough, emotive and capable of flying on its own. Gospel singer Kim Burrell and a choir produced by Kirk Franklin join in for the 2000s-contemporary synth-drama "If Your Love Cannot be Moved." India.Aria duets for the world beat nine-minute epic title track where Wonder lets loose.

About Time

The long awaited release from Mr. Morris is welcome with this reviewer. Although they’re a few “duds” out of the 15 on this CD the hits are there once again. Proving that Stevie not only has his finger on our pulse, but he also has the freedom few artists have to put out exactly what he wants when& how he wants. So he can put out a stinker like Shelter In the Rain complete with the 50’s white-bread ahhh background vocals and donate it to Katrina victims. Hey it’s Stevie! He is Superman. The hits are Positivity (an AM hit, easy), So What the Fuss, Tell Your Heart I Love You (remids me of stuff from Music of my mind), Passionate Raindrops (Secret Life of plants meets Hotter Than July), My Love is on Fire (did I get a Steely Dan feel from the opening keyboard phrase?) Sweetest Somebody I Know (that must be Raul Midon on the gutair) and maybe Blue Moon (one of my favorites but hits can be elusive). There are a number of other hit ballads on the album including a tender one w/ the famous Aisha (named in Isn’t She lovely). I will also buy a hard copy of this when it's out. We all need A Time To Love. Thank You Stevie

Great Job Stevie!

Man, Stevie really has done it again. So happy...I was also a little concerned that it wouldn't be great, but he has pulled it off wonderfully. Great thing about Itunes too is I already had other classic Stevie tunes on my software. So after I bought this new album, I made a mixed CD of tracks from this new album and his old classics. I can tell you they all blend in perfectly. I think any real Stevie fan will be very pleased with this album. Man, I hope Motown really promotes the hell outta this album. Can't wait for the TOUR!!! Great Job Stevie...keep it up....and don't wait so long next time for the NEXT album. In the meantime, enjoy this one...Its great!

GOOD MUSIC. PERIOD!

Stevie Wonder made us wait and wait and wait and once the wait was over, he came with a gem! From the opening track "if your love cannot be moved", stevie and kim burrell trade vocals singing some of the most potent lyrics i've heard in a long time behind a haunting track! Varying the sounds between ballads and downright FUNKY songs, he keeps the listener tuned in. Musically the album was focused. Stevie added a flute solo on "my love is on fire", piano solo on "moon blue"...something that rarely happens in music. Stevie adamantly does what he's always done rather than be swayed by the 106 and park generation r&b floating around. His ballads like "how will i know" with aisha morris and "can't imagine love without you" set the bar for love songs. Standout songs include "moon blue", "please don't hurt my baby", "true love", "tell your heart i love you" and "a time to love" with India Arie (although every song is a standout). The voice is intact as always! This is not a "IT'S STEVIE SO YOU GOTTA LIKE IT" bias. This album is truly for those who want to hear music! If you're looking for some URsher or Bobby Valentino type joints (no disrespect) don't come here. This IS for the GROWN AND SEXY. If you've come to appreciate GOOD SOUL MUSIC and a positive message, you've come to the right place. easily one of the best albums of the year.

Stevie Wonder is a much-beloved American icon and an indisputable genius not only of R&B but popular music in general. Blind virtually since birth, Wonder's heightened awareness of sound helped him create vibrant, colorful music teeming with life and ambition. Nearly everything he recorded bore the stamp of his sunny, joyous positivity; even when he addressed serious racial, social, and spiritual issues (which he did quite often in his prime), or sang about heartbreak and romantic uncertainty,...
