RE-recorded and reflects the maturity of later work

First, let's clear up some confusion - this is not new material per se so saying these guys would have done better in the 80s just shows that the reviewer is unaware of this band's history. This album is a RE-recording of an album from 1988 (Vol 2 is a re-recording of their 1990 album Reason) and adds to it MUCH better production (without losing the CLASSIC Anacrusis sound) and the maturity that was refined on Anacrusis' last two CDs (Manic Impressions and Screams & Whispers). Anacrusis was perhaps one of the first bands to blend thrash with progressive elements not unlike Death (especially their later work) and Believer (their first 3 discs from the 80s and 90s - iTunes needs to get their first 2 albums) back when things like that just weren't done (happens all the time today and every band probably owes something to these guys even if they don't know it). These guys just did not get the credit they deserved and they really were before their time.

If you grew up in the 80s and 90s get these 2 discs. If you like the newer but less technical cross-genre metal from today get these 2 discs to see where today's band got their ideas. THEN go get their other two discs and hear this band in its final and most transcendent form. The songs are VERY complex and have a lot of depth to them so it will take a large number of listens to begin to capture what Anacrusis has to offer.

Then come back and apologize for ever speaking ill of such an amazing band.

Not bad

Bands like Bullet for my Valentine are Hot Topic metal. They start out as emo tinged "metal" and then when thrash starts making a comeback, they try to jump on that bandwagon. BFMV is nothing new, nothing innovative, and they won't stand the test of time. How can you say metal has evolved when bands like Slayer are bigger than ever? They haven't changed one bit.

they are all great msuicains, i dont deny this. But music has evolved to somehing beyond this. This wasnt before its time, if was to late for the train. These guys would have been big in the 80's, but the emergence of bands like BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, metal has a new definition. This would be better if it was all screamo

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s

Anacrusis was one of the more talented bands which somehow got lost in the shuffle of the late-'80s thrash phenomenon. Plagued with poor distribution and isolated from the thriving speed metal communities on either coast, they were often said to be ahead of their time by enthusiastic critics, but it seems that their eclectic style simply shot over most listeners' heads. The members of Anacrusis grew up in and around St. Louis, MO, and like most kids of their generation found a common bond in the...
