Acapella Project, Volume 1 (by Glad)

I am thrilled to find this on iTunes; it has a been a staple in my collection throughout the years in other forms of recording. This is NOT your typical acapella recording; so much planning and design have gone into these songs that you often forget that the richness of what you are hearing is not insturments, but voices alone. It soothes the soul, and lifts your heart in worship!

Still a Classic!

It's been over 21 years and I still can't go long without needing to hear this album again. It is timeless, and set the tone for all other Christian a capella endeavors. With the exceptions of "Depending on Your Love" and the later-added "God is My Rock," this album is flawless. Their renditions of some of the greatest hymns ever actually out-do the originals. "Be Thou My Vision," "And This is Love," "And Can It Be," and, of course, the "Easter Song" are phenomenal arrangements. I still get goose bumps just recalling them. I will go to my grave singing these classics, and hopefully beyond this life, too....

They don

There are few Christian recordings that have been made in the recent past that I can appreciate like I can this one. Unlike secular music, in which every recording is produced solely for listening enjoyment, unadulterated Christian music stirs the spirit of man into fellowship with God through Christ.
This album was produced without pretense and hopeful appreciation of man, but rather as an admiring, benevolent and humble communication with God; which is in stark contrast to today's "Christian" music movement, which is corrupted by fame and fortune.
If you don't buy the album, these are the must haves from off this album:
1) And Can It Be
2) In the First Light
3) Be Ye Glad
4) And This Is Love -
Listen and allow yourself to be moved into fellowship with God.

The progressive Christian rock band GLAD was formed on the campus of West Chester State University near Philadelphia during the early '70s; inspired by jazz and classical music and with a strong emphasis on complex harmonies, the group -- John Gates, Ed Nalle, Jim Bullard, Chris Davis and Paul Langford -- debuted in 1978 with a self-titled LP on the Myrrh/Word label. With their second effort, 1980's Beyond a Star, GLAD began a long tradition of including at least one a cappela track on each of their...
