Album Review

The duo of Smith & Myers was born out of an online contest held by the Florida-based rock band Shinedown. At the suggestion of their Atlantic Records marketing rep, the group put a call out to their fans asking them what songs they'd like to hear the band cover. Startled by the huge response on their website, lead singer Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers eventually narrowed down the list of submissions, settling on ten songs that would be recorded very simply with just acoustic guitar and vocal. Calling the project Smith & Myers, the duo laid down renditions of songs as varied as the Clash's "London Calling," Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters," and Otis Redding's classic "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay." A video of the group recording each track was posted on YouTube to accompany the February 2014 release of Smith & Myers' (Acoustic Sessions) EP.

This Hard Work At It's Finest!

I have heard some of the songs and I am so excited for the release of this EP! These 2 men have created what I would consider the "Greatest Cover Album Ever!" My favorite so far has to be "Blue On Black!" This EP is DEFINITELY worth the purchase!

not the same as they used to be

they used to have more feeling. they had a different bassist and guitarist in leave a whisper days too so it was also a whole different band. but they had more feeling. who was more tightknit as a group. like i noticed in the video of brent and zack doin nothing else matters brent was looking at lyrics.... in his older acoustic sets he didnt look at lyrics because he felt them.... in this one he was too focused on reading and not on feeling. and zack it just seems too me like hes more about show than music... he only gets the fanciest and most decorated guitars and plays so technical and doesnt throw in little runs and doesnt feel it. jasin used basic guitars but he played the MUSIC not the show. for me theyve just gone downhill ever since the new members. brent has seemed to get more cocky with his voice i guess... he used to feel it but now he just seems like he knows hes the best so he just sings to put on a show... not to express himself

Brent Smith Nailed It… As Usual

The guys are truly unique and extremely talented.Catch them every time they come around. You will not be disappointed!
