iTunes Review

It's no surprise that Jean-Michel Jarre fell in love with 5.1 surround, given his longtime love for futuristic sounds. A greatest-hits album with a twist, Aero finds him remixing and re-recording his catalog to take full advantage of 5.1’s immersive possibilities. Its new and old songs—including segments of ’70s synth touchstones Oxygène and Equinoxe—are unified by new musical links into a cohesive, sonically dazzling whole.

Good primer

A mix of "old" and "new" material- a good start for the newbies that are just now hearing of Jean-michel. (...And where is his library?) With 30 years in the biz, he is considered one of the Godfathers of electronica. Now open your notebooks, JMJ 101 is now in session.

Aero is about the DVD, not the CD

What is unique is not the CD, but the DVD aero. Jarre redesigned old pieces and specifically designed some new piexes to fully use the new possibilities of 5 speaker home theatre sets. Regular CD's deliver stereo sound only, Jarre creates a 3D sound experience. As always, he is the first to try new things. Amazing is the DVD, also because it shows a pair of blue eyes only, alive. The emotion in the eyes while the music is playing is interesting. Tears start to flow and you will feel sad too, but in a good way.

Aero

Jean Michel Jarre, along with Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou (Vangelis), is one of my favourite electronic artists. His songs are great for working or using them as ambient music to set a chilling mood. Zoolookology is the piece of music I love the most from JMJ. And all his Oxygene and Equinoxe series (from other albums too) are excellent. His music is not too loud and just perfect for doing something else at the same time without being distracted.
