iTunes Review

This Greatest Hits album was released in 1980, when Aerosmith’s future was very much in question. Guitarist Joe Perry had quit and formed The Joe Perry Project, while the group’s other guitarist, Brad Whitford, would soon form Whitford/St. Holmes. This single-LP collection features the first album appearance of the studio version of “Come Together,” the Beatles cover that Aerosmith contributed to the soundtrack of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the 1978 film starring Peter Frampton and The Bee Gees. “Remember (Walking in the Sand)” is the band’s convincing cover of the Shangri-Las hit written by “Shadow” Morton; it appeared on Night in the Ruts, an album that saw Aerosmith’s classic lineup being juggled around. But the timeless power of “Dream On,” the R&B prance of “Same Old Song and Dance,” the dark teenaged funk of “Sweet Emotion” and “Walk This Way,” and the screaming finality of “Draw the Line” made Aerosmith among the most popular and essential bands of the ‘70s.

Nothing beats classic Aerosmith!! Always was and will be great rock n roll!!

Great album but this has the same exact tracklisting as Greatest Hits, and I don't think Remember(Walking In The Sand) was ever a very big hit. There are better songs on Night In The Ruts than Remember. The album doesn't span to 1988 anyway, the title is very misleading. It is actually 1973 to 1979, Aerosmith's best era.

Aerosmith were one of the most popular hard rock bands of the '70s, setting the style and sound of hard rock and heavy metal for the next two decades with their raunchy, bluesy swagger. The Boston-based quintet found the middle ground between the menace of the Rolling Stones and the campy, sleazy flamboyance of the New York Dolls, developing a lean, dirty riff-oriented boogie that was loose and swinging and as hard as a diamond. In the meantime, they developed a prototype for power ballads with...
