Editors’ Notes

George Benson was already everyone's favorite jazz-funk guitarist by 1976, when Breezin' made him a pop star too. His Stevie Wonder-inspired vocal rendition of Leon Russell's "This Masquerade" proved irresistible, and Breezin' became the first album by a jazz artist to go platinum, topping pop, jazz, and R&B charts simultaneously. From the Bobby Womack-penned title track to Jose Feliciano's "Affirmation," Breezin' glides by on Benson's fleet-fingered fluidity, low-key funk, and a string section that adds just enough sugar to this tasty concoction.

George got me into Jazz music....

I was in college during the mid to late 1970's and I got a hold of George's White Rabbit Album. For the rest of the 1970's I just listened to Jazz (and lot's of George)... I was so out of touch with the rock/pop music of the mid-late 70's... but looking back now, I'm glad I was influenced by George. I think he may be incredibly underrated/under-appreciated as a guitarist. His technique, style, phrasing and interpretation is so fantastic and unique to George. On top of that he has a wonderful voice... I love everything he does. I saw him once live in concert in 1981 San Carlos rotating stage theatre... he was sooo cool.

Other artists I recommend from that time period (many of whom I got into because I saw their names on George's albums) Earl Klugh, Ronnie Laws, Hubert Laws, Bob James, Michael Franks, etc... ;)

Classic Benson!

I don't need to explain how good this album is but I just need to state that this album is one reason why I musically travel to the past. Highly Recommended!

breathe easy..

classics never sound this good.. lay back, mellow out and just enjoy the ride.. listen to this album anywhere, anytime.. final destination, peace..

Simply one of the greatest guitarists in jazz history, George Benson is an amazingly versatile musician, whose adept skills find him crossing easily between straight-ahead jazz, smooth jazz, and contemporary R&B. Blessed with supreme taste, a beautiful, rounded guitar tone, terrific speed, a marvelous sense of logic in building solos, and, always, an unquenchable urge to swing, Benson's inspirations may have been Charlie Christian and Wes Montgomery, but his style is completely his own.
