Unbiased review from an objective reviewer

True story: after I heard the final version of this album, I asked Ben himself to bring me a spatula (or, a fish slice for our UK audience). Why? So I could scrape the freshly-melted contents of my face up off the tile floor. I hope that you, the potential buyer(s) of *Songs That Duke Wrote*, have thoroughly previewed each of the tunes contained herein, and are duly expecting a face-full of melt once you hear them in their entirety. A certain songwriter once told me that a great song is a great song regardless of the recording's production quality. Well Ben, you managed to deliver in both categories twelve-times over with this one. Common sense requires that you, the potential buyer(s) again, purchase this album. Now go and make Thomas Paine proud.

Ben Rector's "Songs that Duke Wrote" is a refreshingly creative and thoughtful compilation of music. Ben Rector provides respite for a world hounded by faceless/generic rock. Nickelback's reign of crappy music is over. Thank you, Ben Rector.

A self-titled EP that Rector released during his freshman year at college caught on locally, and soon he was playing live...
