Bobby (whom I knew in Taiwan and Honolulu) was one of the most gifted jazz pianists the world has known. This album is an example of that gift showing that he heard things no one else would hear and his unbelievable technique (he was a martial arts expert with finely honed reflexes). The negative factor is that he wears you out just listening to him. The positive factor is that each time you play the album you hear things that you had not heard before. A GREAT ALBUM ! !

Live! In Tokyo

I was in a bar in SOHO and asked my favorite bartender if he would play the three new CD's I had just purchased. All three were by Bobby Enriquez. I don't mind telling you I have not seen craziness in a bar over music like I saw that evening. Everybody wanted the name of the piano player and tried buying the CD's from me right then and there. Bobby is great! He starts playing and no-one can stop moving. Outstanding! Since Bobby plays a lot of clubs and this bar on the right of Hudson Street just north of Canal in New York City was just perfect for Bobby's genius. What a night; what music!

He arrived on the mainland in the early '70s, toured with Richie Cole during 1980-1981, and made his debut on record in 1981. Enriquez cut eight albums for GNP/Crescendo during...
