Never saw it, but this album makes me wish I had
This album really requires more than one listen to fully appreciate. I bought it because I love Adam Pascal's voice, so at first I listened to "Fortune Favors the Brave" a lot. Then I got into "Written in the Stars" and "Elaborate Lives" because I loved Heather Headley, especially with Adam Pascal. Then I heard a version of Elton John's "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" performed by Sherie Rene Scott with Adam as backup, and now my favorites are her songs. I love "Every Story Is a Love Story," and I especially love dancing around my room to "My Strongest Suit." I actually reall got into that song by seeing Idina perform it on the Today Show when she took over the role. And now I love "A Step Too Far" and "Not Me" because it blends the three leads voices together, and they sound amazing. You may not like it on the first, second, or even third listen, but keep listening it. Because it is truly amazing once you really get into it!!
Come And Claim this CD!!! (everyone who has seen the show will get this) hehe
I tried out for this show at my school and got in...knowing none of the songs...I bought the CD and I instantly fell in love with it. Strongest Suit, The Gods Love Nubia, and Dance of the Robe are my personal favorites...then there are the slower ones like Written in the Stars, Elaborate Lives (Reprise), and I Know the Truth....Please you will really love this CD so buy it!!!
A Pleasant Surprise!
I bought this CD knowing almost nothing about it, besides the fact that there was a love triangle and it was set in Egypt. I bought it out of blind faith I guess and was rewarded greatly. Me, being the EXCELLENT RENThead I am, didn't realize that Adam Pascal had the lead male role until Enchantment Passing Through. Anyway, this cd has excellent vocals from all the cast. Heather Headley has a unique but beautiful voice that you grow to appreciate more and more each time you hear it (I adore her vocals in "Easy As Life"). Adam Pascal has a raw and rough kind of voice, making his character seem more of a rocker, and his voice makes "Fortune Favors The Brave" an excellent rock song. Sherie Rene Scott has a voice that almost reminds me of a mowtown style but is extremely versatile. Her first song "My Strongest Suit" is good for a giggle or two at the girl's fascination with fashion but then "I Know the Truth" is possibly one of the saddest songs on there (besides the numerous duets between Adam and Heather). Not to mention some of the smaller characters, like John Hickok who is delightfully cruel. Or Damian Perkins who is the faithful follower of Aida and servant to Radames. Overall, I grew to love this musical without even seeing the whole thing. I did read the synopsis inside the cover though and that was enough to bring the songs together for me to make a story. You can most definetely tell that Aida was based off of an opera with the same name beacuse of the dramatic storyline. But I wouldn't have this heart-breaking musical any other way.
