Uncommonly Artistic

Were this album a collection of paintings, I would buy them all to adorn the rooms of my house. Each is its own unique work of art, but there is a common thread that unites them all–a fresh take on an overworked genre as only New Zealanders can do. Sure, Betchadupa might draw from the color palattes or techniques of other masters, such as The Beatles, Nirvana, or Queens of the Stone Age, but just when you think you've got the song pegged, an unexpected stroke of the brush takes you to a place you didn't imagine. Crisp musicianship, watercolor production, ardent-hued lyrics and arresting vocals combine to make songs that embed themselves in your psyche day in and day out–simply put, they're catchy, bright tunes to hang on the wall and admire as something familiar and yet inspiring.

Nirvana meets Frank Zappa?

A little heavy for me but tightly unique and quite musical. They are on to something here that will most certainly catch on with the younger heavy lovers out there. Move Over is my personal pick, but I'm an old guitar thrasher kind of guy. I will be looking for number two. Keep at it!

Okay

Aiming for your head is pretty good. An OK band
