iTunes Review

Unpredictable was a perfect title for a Mystikal album. Few rappers could take a song—or even a single verse—in as many directions as he could. His career got a huge boost when he signed with the hugely successful No Limit label in 1997; it's amazing to think that an album as uncompromising as Unpredictable made it to No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Mystikal’s raps were the perfect match for the tracks from Beats by the Pound (No Limit’s in-house production team), which by 1997 had perfected the template for beats that were tense, stealthy, and highly volatile. As was typical for the era, the album is padded with stellar cameos from the No Limit family, but the intensity level goes through the roof whenever Mystikal raps. His rhymes have the unpredictability of stream-of-consciousness writing, yet are delivered with the rapid-fire precision of an airplane propeller. Bizarre and adrenalized, the whole album is singularly creative, but beginners might want to start with “13 Years,” a piece of '70s funk warped and intensified.

Get your facts straight...Album review is wrong

This is Mystikal's first No Limit album. No Limit had nothing to do with "Mind of Mystikal." Whoever iTunes paid to write the album review needs to do their homework.

Mystikal 1 of the coldest

This album is classic No Limit album . One of the best produced by Beats by the Pound . My favorite songs are 13 years , Murder 2 , the Man Right Chea , and Here We Go . . . In that order .

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Once one of the leading rappers on Master P's No Limit record label, Mystikal quickly evolved beyond the label's clichéd thug trappings and found himself one of the Dirty South's most recognized rappers, alongside the likes of Juvenile and Ludacris. Like No Limit itself, Mystikal is a New Orleans native. He released an eponymous debut on the independent label Big Boy in June 1995. It earned the attention of Jive Records, who signed him later that year. His official major-label debut, Mind of Mystikal,...
