iTunes Review

Early in this special, Lewis Black tells us there's a cap on how many curse words he's allowed, noting the contrast between the hallowed venue and his unhinged, often vulgar rants. He breaks the rule within the first few minutes, but his takes on topics like Hurricane Katrina and adults in Halloween costumes have the crowd laughing too hard to interrupt. He can barely contain his rage against politicians, and though the targets of his ire are now long out of office, Black’s voice remains essential.

Below His Normal Par

I am rating this CD 3 stars mainly because compared to his other albums, its not that great. I think Lewis chose one of the worst locations to do his CD. His CD's have always been smaller venues, and that created the high octane energy he was known for. And its not that his stuff isnt funny, I saw him live (with basically the same material) and he KILLED! I mean it was the best performance I had ever seen from a comic. So its not that he isnt still funny as ever. (he is, believe me)But he just needs to choose a better venue for the material. If he would continue sticking to smaller venues with his CD's, he would capture his energy much better. But dont let that discourage you from buying this album, its great stuff. But first buy "The White Album" and "The End of the Universe". After that you can buy this one, but those two CD's are his finest work so far.

Another Golden performance

Lewis Black yet again proves that when it comes to stand up humor, he's the best of the best. Every performance to date he's done has been a laugh riot, and this performance is no exception.

Sharp, Fast and Furious. Excellent Black!

It appears that every Lewis Black album gets funnier and funnier. And I believe this album will, as he addressed, cannot be topped. But with Lewis anything can happen as long as there are politics and presidents, Lewis Black will always have new material. It's safe to say that Lewis is the new George Carlin (without the legendary status) and this CD proves it. The performances are sharp and quick and with Lewis' typical anger laden delivery. His wit and irony is perfectly in tact here and he's more confident this time around than ever before. Quite frankly, this is the easiest collection of Lewis to listen to.

Biography

Born: August 30, 1948 in Washington D.C.

Genre: Comedy

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Satirist and standup comic Lewis Black rose to prominence in the late '90s with regular appearances as a commentator on the Comedy Central cable network's The Daily Show. Obsessed with human stupidity, Black became one of the show's most distinctive contributors with his weekly Back in Black segment; his delivery was so full of frothing, barely articulate bile and rage that it could sometimes obscure the sharpness of his social and political observations. Black graduated from the Yale Drama School...
