I downloaded a track called Al Biruni 1.1 this year after learning of Klause's death. It was free. The track consists of a slow middle eastern tinged violin and a solo woman's soaring vocals. This is a haunting piece of music.
The particulars of it are: Al Biruni 1.1 17:52 Klause Wiese / Thomas and Eva Maria Kagerman
After checking over some months I saw Seed was available and bought it immediately. What I got is rather different but still quite beautiful. It lacks an emotional punch, though.
It is a shame that Mr. Wiese' work El Hadra is not available here. I have been using this one long cut, trance drumming cd for 3 years in the car. It is really special, have been looking for other things like it over the years and the closest is "way to Katmandu," but not close enough.
Boy, after reading the notes on who Al Biruni was, listening to the 1.1 version is just haunting.
