Super Salsa

This my personal favorite album by Luis Perico Ortiz. I think it was his best! Great trumpet work. My favorite cut on this is "Como Vivo Yo."

Classic Jams From the Past

Wow , I hate to say this again and again, there is no better quailty Salsa than this! Perico shows us why he was such a hit maker for Fania Records, he played with everybody. The song "Julian del Valle" Julian from the village tells stroy of a man who leaves everything behind in Puerto Rico and come to New York and dissappears into the maliase of the big city. Its backed by the very powerful voice of Rafael DeJesus. I was 14 years old and saved 12 bucks and train fare to see him live in the Madison Square Garden one labor day weekend, and I was blown away by the music talents and style of this band. What magic!! At the time and the Rodger Dawson Radio show in NYC "Camaron " was a favorite. The best tune in my opinion is Julian del Valle.

Le dicen "Perico" por su linda melodía

Tiene un gran talento de tocar la trompeta eso es indiscutible, he leído muchos comentarios acerca de este artista puertorriqueño y coincido con ellos: es un prodigio de la trompeta de la salsa.
