This album changed my life.

The day I heard Alchemy for the first time was the day I decided that I had to play guitar and I had to own a Stratocaster.

Prior to that I was like any other 13 year old kid, listening to the stuff that all his friends listened to, Maiden, Priest and other metal acts dominated my listening. But something in MK's playing grabbed me and shook me to the core. The outro solo of Romeo and Juliet brought me to tears and that was it. The rest of my life I've chased that high, and this era of Dire Straits' career is still the most powerful drug that I could ever imagine.

All Is Well

When “Alchemy” was first released on iTunes, it included a a shorter and less stirring recording of “Tunnel Of Love” from a BBC session. It’s now got the right one. Well done!

Essential Dire Straits

Simply the best Dire Straits album. Must hear to appreciate. I've listened to it in different formats since the '80s, and I'm glad to see it on iTunes. Although I have all these songs on the various studio albums, this is by far my favorite version.

Tunnel of Love, Telegraph Road, Going Home, and Private Investigations are all better on Alchemy than on the studio recordings.
