iTunes Review

Although much of Alison Krauss's reputation is built on her role as a bluegrass crossover star, her band Union Station is still a top-flight traditional band, as this double live-concert album amply demonstrates. Krauss has never sounded more confident or connected to her music, and the audience responds in kind. The Union Station crew breeze through stripped-down versions of their most popular original hits, along with a lively selection of traditional mountain music tunes, including breakdowns and reels that hearken back to the music's Celtic roots. Krauss graciously shares the spotlight with her talented band mates. Banjoist Ron Block and guitarist Dan Tyminski both shine on their showcase numbers, while Jerry Douglas adds his trademark sweet dobro licks throughout. This is Krauss and company at their very best, which means it's very good, indeed.

Bluegrass Heaven!

This collection will certainly rank as one of the greatest live albums ever produced. In my opinion, true musical talent is defined by a musician's ability to perform their material live as well as their studio produced material and AKUS takes this mark of true talent to the limit. Tight harmonies and outstanding instrument performances are evident on every cut of this must have CD. As good as the vocals and instruments are on this collection, the CD still maintains a the raw ambiance that mark unforgettable live sets. The only thing better than this CD is the video DVD of the same performance.

Best Live Show You'll Ever See--Or Hear!

If you've never seen Alison Krauss + Union Station in concert, you're missing something really special. The first time I saw Alison live was back in 1993 at Renfro Valley, KY in the middle of a field at a bluegrass festival in summertime. It was hot and humid, but she sang and played every single note as perfectly as if it were the record. Since then, I have seen her two more times--once at the Taft in Cincinnati and once at Rupp Arena in Lexington. Both times, again, she and Union Station put on a heck of a show. They don't need costume changes, pyrotechnics, or fancy sets. They just come out and play their fingers off. Live captures the magic of their shows on disc, and I am very pleased that it was recorded right here in my home state of Kentucky! This album includes songs that were done on Alison's last few studio albums before Lonely Runs Both Ways. Every track is a gem, the perfection people have come to know, love, and expect from this incredible group of beyond talented musicians!

Incredible Music

I first became acquainted with Alison Krauss and Union Station when watching their live performance on HDNet. I was blown away. The first thing that amazed me was Alison's voice. It was beautiful - she exhibits incredible control and range - all the while making it seem effortless. Then I began to notice the musicians of Union Station. They are also amazing, and somehow managed to supply backing vocals to Alison's lead vocals that were tight and in tune. Exceptional. I would recommend this music to anyone.

Alison Krauss, along with her band the Union Station, helped bring bluegrass to a new audience in the '90s. Blending bluegrass with folk, Krauss was instantly acclaimed from the start of her career, but it wasn't until her platinum-selling 1995 compilation Now That I've Found You that she became a mainstream star. Between her 1987 debut Too Late to Cry and Now That I've Found You, she matured from a child prodigy...
