iTunes Editors’ Notes

One of the underground's hardest-working young producers, Oddisee has built a thorough body of work with a steady stream of albums, mixtapes, collaborations, and instrumental projects. On Rock Creek Park, he breaks us off with 10 joints that are universally chill, loaded with jazz-drenched loops offering wispy flutes, funked-out bass lines, breezy guitar licks, soft horns, and earthy pianos. “Closed After Dark," "Beach Dr.," and the vibraphone-and-ride-cymbal-laced "Mattered Much" are standouts, though the ‘80s-influenced "Uptown Cabaret" and yU collabo "Still Doing It" are also impressive. Though many of the tracks are similar on the low-BPM head-nod tip, they all sound great and make an ideal soundtrack for just keeping it mellow.

Suprisingly dope

Not because Oddissee isn't dope, I've been a fan for a while now. But because I'm pretty sick of completely instrumental hip-hop albums. In my opinion that style peaked with RJD2 and Blockhead and others in the early 2000's and then was beat into the ground by others with boring music. But this is a really fresh, dope and fun to listen to album. Each song stands strong on its own and unlike most hip hop instrumental albums, the music is primary while the beats back it up ( w/o losing that boom bap element). Very, very fresh!

Rising Tide - Oddisee Just Keeps Elevating the Level of Music

Everytime Oddisee comes with a project he brings a new style, new techniques, and all without losing his sound. Rock Creek Park is refreshing to listen to. The live drums, keys, and instruments mix with the soulful samples & synths beautifully. Well orchestrated. One of the best instrumental projects I've heard.

Big Up to Oddisee

He was all set to attend the Art Institute of Philadelphia to pursue visual art when a friend of his introduced him to hip-hop production. He was so enamored by it that he changed his plans and concentrated on making beats, ending up with the track "Musik Lounge" on DJ Jazzy Jeff's 2002 record Magnificent....
