iTunes Review

The culmination of four different EPs released over the course of a year, Odd Seasons is the latest release from Washington D.C. producer/MC Oddisee, who has made a strong name for himself over the course of approximately 20 mixtapes, compilations, solo albums, and collaborative projects since the early 2000s. Though it's a lot of music to digest all at once (31 tracks), this remains a compelling listen from one of the most impressive and prolific young beat maestros working today. While it is definitely considered hip-hop, this mostly instrumental collection could also fall into the category of modern jazz, cut-and-paste, or even easy listening (in a good way), with its lush melodies, unpredictable change-ups, creative drum programming, and layered samples. More effective as a party soundtrack than dance-floor party starter, this is ideal for fans of Madlib, MF DOOM, Fat Jon, and the like. Don't miss "The Richers," "Sand to the Beach," and "Saw Myself Today."

Dope Production.

Oddisee's production is always something to look forward to. From his drums and samples, to his played melodies, w/ layers that always make sense.

Oddisee has been an inspiration to me for years. i sometimes model my sound after him. this is his best work yet. absolutely incredible!

One of the Greats on Production

Every album Oddisee puts out has a different feel: classic boom bap grimy on DIamond District to melodic mood setting instrumentals here. Greta production. Glad to see the official version of this one out.

He was so enamored of it that he changed his plans and concentrated on making beats, ending up with the track "Musik Lounge" on DJ Jazzy Jeff's 2002 record Magnificent....
