Album Review

Once Sister Hazel's major-label debut, Somewhere More Familiar, became a hit on the heels of the success of the single "All for You," Universal reissued the group's original eponymous self-released album. Essentially, all of these songs are demos that the group used to get gigs, and eventually they started selling the album at gigs as well. None of the band's big hits are included ("All for You" is featured in an acoustic version), but concert staples like "Feel It" and "One Nation" are here, as well as nine other tracks. While the remaining cuts aren't quite of the same standard, they are pleasant, and dedicated fans will find the collection worthwhile.

The Beginnings of Something Great

They've come a long way, folks, but this is how it all began. "The White Album" as it has affectionately been called, this self-titled studio-produced re-release of their very first recording debut is a must-have for both veteran Sister Hazel fans and those who have just found them. It shows the synergies that existed in the group that has evolved to what is now a platinum record creating force to be reckoned with. Here you'll find an original version of their smash hit "All For You", and some great acoustic songs that were grown from their Gainesville roots, even before current lead guitarist Ryan Newell and drummer Mark Trojanowski were permanent members of the fold. Check out the preview clips and visit their website for more info. You will not be sorry owning this wonderful piece of what is sure to be music history.

Sister Hazel

Good music, for years I passed over the album as I let my fingers flick through the thousands of titles out there. Now thanks to itunes i listend to it and i enjoyed it almost as somewhere more familiar....which I beilieve was their best album. this is a feel good album which made the band what they are now, remeber this album was orignaly released in 1994, then rereleased in 2005, so its not a new one. Sister hazel is one of the most underrated alternative bands out there from the guiatar to the drums and bass, listen to each part alone and you will see.

Classic American
