Reseña de álbum

Thankfully, All I Ever Wanted is not Kelly Clarkson's atonement for insisting on releasing the dark, gothic rock record My December against the wishes of label boss Clive Davis in 2007 — well, at least not entirely. All I Ever Wanted doesn't completely abandon the tougher rock edges of My December, but it does ditch the brooding in favor of angry spunk, all the better to prove that the girl who sang "Since U Been Gone" is back. And she is — quite self-consciously on "My Life Would Suck Without You," the first track and first single on All I Ever Wanted, a song designed by Max Martin to be an explicit sequel to his "Since U Been Gone." It's effective, if a bit clinical, running contrary to Clarkson's greatest gift: her genuineness. My December might not have quite worked, but its messiness seemed an authentic reflection of a girl next door sorting through the aftermath of turning into an unexpected star and much of All I Ever Wanted is the opposite, attempting to run the most likeable pop star of the new millennium through the mill. Fortunately, it's possible to dampen Clarkson's spirit — nobody could survive four Ryan Tedder collaborations without being brought down into his simpering murk — but not to break it. She can break through Martin's machinations on "My Life" and comes pretty close to breathing some life into Tedder's cold R&B approximations, but those chilly sheets of synths don't suit her. Kelly is at her best when she's belting out a big chorus backed by loud guitars, or even singing a piece of pure pop like "I Want You," as effervescent a tune as she's ever sung. About half of All I Ever Wanted is as good as this and some of it even touches on Clarkson's hard rock infatuation and improves it, particularly on the bubblegum punk "Whyyawannabringmedown" — complete with Kelly affecting a hysterical Johnny Rotten snarl — the arena rocker "Don't Let Me Stop You," and "All I Ever Wanted," which turns the disco bass of Spoon's "I Turn My Camera On" upside down. Tellingly, Kelly takes two Katy Perry-written numbers (both produced by Howard Benson)— "I Do Not Hook Up," co-written by new American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, and "Long Shot," co-written by Glen Ballard — and goes a long way in illustrating why she's a better pop star. Kelly sounds impassioned and invested in these numbers, selling every one of the skyscraper hooks, but better still she sounds relatable, pulling listeners into a song instead of keeping them at a distance. This is a rare talent and while it's not perfect, largely due to those dreary Tedder tunes, much of All I Ever Wanted does justice to Clarkson's considerable skills.

There's Something for Everyone

If people are looking for the old hard rocking Clarkson than sorry to say but you won’t find much here, there’s like 2 or 3 tracks that really hit those heavy cords and quite frankly I didn't find them great. Also, there seems to be a few tracks that seem to take beats/inspiration from songs that are already/has been on the airwaves. Otherwise, the record basks in Clarkson's maturity, vocally and professionally and has nonetheless created an enjoyable record for everyone, with some definite standout tracks. Below I’ll be nitpicking a few tracks but will mostly focus on my favorites that I’d recommend. -- The 2 co-written tracks by Miss. Katy Perry, return Clarkson to her roots, pop/rock; 2. I Do Not Hook Up, which has a very reminiscing vibe to her 2004 smash hit “Since You’ve Been Gone,” is as or if not more catchy than SYBG. The more you listen to it, the more addicting it gets. 5/5 10. Love Shot, amore fast paced song compared to any other track on the album but the beat is pure pop perfection at it’s best. Katy is a genius when writing hooks! It has that added old and new vibe that makes the track unique. One of the best tracks! 10/5!!! -- Ryan Tedder helmed tracks: 06. Already Gone, 1 nitpick, the beat is a total rip from Beyonce’s “Halo” [who was also helmed by Tedder] but with the bass at minimal level. That said, I have to say I much preferred Clarkson’s song. It’s smoother and less head aching to sit through. A that haunting vibe if you listen to it at the right time of night but has the lyrics that will make you want to tear up. 5/5 07. If I Can’t Have You, okay I have 2 things to nitpick about this track (1) the intro is exactly identical to Miley Cyrus’s “Fly on the Wall” (2) this overall track sounds like The Veronica’s and Cyrus did a one time duet. Now that that’s out of the way, the track is nonetheless good. It’s a download if you like either of the artists I’ve mentioned above otherwise it’s a song you can leave off the Purchase List. 3.5/5 08. Save You, if you loved “Sober” from My December than this is a must buy. It’s a very impressive track that I feel is an upgrade from “Sober.” The lyrics I feel are better written here with less of the pauses that I felt made “Sober” seem unnecessarily lengthy. 5/5 11. Impossible, it has it’s rock and mellow moments but the lyrics and vocals really are the highlight of this track, it shines maturity and sophistication in Clarkson from any of her previous work. 4/5 15. Tip of My Tongue, it’s a track you’ll have to take a chance on, it’s very different from anything you would’ve ever heard from Clarkson, it has a more mature and urban vibe to it. 5/5 -- 16. The Day We Fell Apart, the track really highlights Clarkson’s vocal chops and the places where her pitch syncs perfectly with the electric guitar is really something you have to listen for yourself. 5/5 17. Can We Go, if you loved Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” then this is the perfect song for you. It’s more of a sequel/prequel to the mentioned song than “Last Name” will ever be IMO. Sadly, you will never get the chance to buy it since it was only a Pre-Order track :[. 5/5 -- To wrap things up, buy it if you’re already a KC fan because you’ll definitely not be disappointed but if you’re a newbie wanting to experiment than this album is perfect too. If you’re like me who can’t just jump into something new too quickly I’d recommend buying: -- Love Shot [for those Katy Perry fans] -- I Do Not Hook Up [for those Katy Perry/”Since You’ve Been Gone” fans] -- Tip of My Tongue [for those who love a Urban beat] -- Save You [for those My December/”Sober” fans] -- Already Gone [for those My December fans] Enjoy this review and definitely the album!

"Long Shot"

Kelly wow "long Shot" best song ever, this song just show why I love kelly Clarkson she totally rock wow I'm speechless...

Incredible Album

I just finished listening to the entire album (for some reason the tracks were avalable early). All the tracks are quite enjoyable, the type that I will enjoy more and more with every listen. I think it is a cross between Breakaway and My December. She definitely has an excellent voice which is showcased on every track. I think this album will do quite well. People may say Kelly is back, but to me she never left. This is just a more radio friendly and commercial album, something that My December was not.
