The Rescue

The Rescue

Indiana-born Adam Cappa brings good looks, engaging vocals, and adept songwriting to the table for his BEC debut, The Rescue. Most importantly, he testifies to his fervent Christian faith with a disarming honesty that shines through on each track. Enlisting tourmate Jeremy Camp as a producer and cowriter, Cappa takes a mainstream path that emphasizes big chorus hooks and radio-friendly arrangements. If the sounds are smoothly professional, the lyrical sentiments are rooted in the everyday concerns of ordinary believers and seekers. Songs like the ballad “Sail Away” (a reassuring message to a friend) and the upbeat rocker “Perfect” (affirming God’s unconditional love for mankind) avoid judgmental preaching in favor of compassion. Cappa’s dynamic, falsetto-tinged singing (reminiscent of secular pop-rocker Daughtry at times) is especially suited to The Rescue’s anthemic title track and the buoyant, slightly funky “From the Inside.” Also among the standouts are the waltzing praise tune “Only a Glimpse” and the contemplative, hymnlike closing number, “How Worthy.”
