Album Review

Bryan Duncan's soulful voice is a pretty powerful instrument, and it provides a fair amount of color to producer Larry Brown's otherwise colorless R&B/pop arrangements. Ordinarily, Duncan's strong suit is his lively pop satires of the foibles of the religious life. This time the attempts at humor aren't so lively, but the more straightforward title track is: it's an infectiously hummable pop tune that deserved radio airplay as much as any of its synth-driven counterparts on 1980s secular radio.

By Far My Favorite

I was in college when this release came out. It is my favorite Bryan Duncan album. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Duncan's voice. You Can Rely On Me, Help Is On The Way and Whistlin' In The Dark are always on my iPod. If you're looking for great modern music, this ain't it. If you're looking for great Bryan Duncan, get the whole album.

Classic Duncan!

So excited to find this on itunes...my cassette tape of WHISTLIN IN THE DARK was always in my boom box in college! I would have to agree that this is his best album. Love his voice, even 20 years later!

A Step Back

An excellent step back into the 80's! Nice rhythms and vocals.
