Reseña de álbum

Lay Down Rotten's 2007 release, Reconquering the Pit, may just win for the best metal album title of the year. However, the music contained within is your standard growl 'n' grind death metal — very few surprises are included here. If you're a death metal connoisseur, you've probably heard it all before, as Reconquering the Pit is overflowing with impeccable double bass drumming, shredding solos, and of course, Cookie Monster vocals: all crucial elements for your next death metal party. If you're looking for no-frills extreme metal, then tunes such as the title track and another exquisite title — "Sound of Breaking Bones" — should do. Reconquering the Pit? If you say so. Reinventing the death metal wheel? Certainly not.

Nice Speedy Guitar Riffs!!!

I downloaded "Sound Of Breaking Bones" and "Nihil" and those two songs by far are worth the ninety nine cents each. They have some unique guitar riffs and speedy drum beats. Don't hesitate to give "Lay Down Rotten" some attention!!!

nothing groundbreaking

All the elements are here for a death metal record. Nothing new, nothing fresh, nothing groundbreaking. The sound quality is good, I will admit that. But this band does nothing much to stand out. I do like nihil, but other songs sound like others who have come before them. Demons Breed sounds like it could have been on Malevolent Creation's Retribution album and All of this pain is very, very reminiscent of Morbid Angel's song "Summoning Redemption". This is average Death Metal to me.

Skaggs is exactly that, a skagg. Good, Good, Music. Listen to it, You'll know what I mean.

Años de actividad:

A German death metal band that originally came to be in 1999 as the solo project of vocalist Daniel Jakobi, Lay Down Rotten quickly expanded to a band within a year, and by November of 2000 had completed work on a four-track demo. Joined by a trio of musicians prior to the demo sessions, the group made a quick turnaround and was back in the studio in 2001 to put more down on tape. A series of successful shows in 2002 and word-of-mouth reaction from their demo releases served Lay Down Rotten well,...
