About Opia

Electronic duo Opia make atmospheric, R&B-influenced pop informed by their love of EDM, singer/songwriter folk, and a cappella vocals. Formed in Los Angeles in 2016, Opia feature the talents of fellow Yale graduates singer/guitarist Cole Citrenbaum and singer/producer Jacob Reske. Initially, the pair met at Yale, where Reske had been a member of the electronic a cappella outfit A.Squared and Citrenbaum led his own a cappella group, the Spizzwinks. After college, the duo kept in touch and reconnected in Los Angeles, where they began writing and recording material in Reske's then unfurnished apartment. In January 2016, Opia's debut single, "Falling," went viral after landing on blog aggregator Hype Machine and getting included on Spotify's New Music Friday playlist. In 2017 Opia released the Faded EP, which featured "Falling" along with five other tracks, including "Heart of Gold." Also that year, they toured with Marian Hill and Whethan. ~ Matt Collar
