we don't need no stinking titles

i first heard of (the sounds of) kaleidoscope when i saw them open up for lilys in brooklyn in february of 2006. i was hooked from the first screech of feedback and drone. (tso)k play music from your teen years if your teen years were spent primarily on the east coast - but they do it without sounding like a jesus and mary chain or spacemen 3 rip-off. they sound like a band that entered a time portal on their way to the gig at city gardens in 1990 and ended up in the new century. all of which is refreshing given the slew of 'they sound like a mix of band a and band b" that are starting to flood hipster scenes around the country. (tso)k sound like .....(the sounds of) kaleidoscope and if you don't know what that means then you need to find out. they take you into a mass musical trance and hold you there with a rocker's passion. but you don't have to take my word for it... see them on tour - if they would only tour. they need to see you here in chicago.

The latest psychrock tour de force from these East Coast dreamweavers is both enchanting and sophisticated as anything currently circulating throughout the shadows of our modern music scene. A multi-course meal that will be delighfully devoured by anyone who has lysergic love for Lilys, esteemed members of the Creation council, Paisley Underground, or other voluntary exiles from the norm. Buy their other EPs/LPs to complete the collage and open your eyes to a band on the rise. FIN.

Finally, Taylor settled on a rhythm section of brothers Mike Dugan (bass) and John Dugan (drums) for a July 2000 recording session. The session yielded an EP, These Are (The Sounds Of) Kaleidiscope, released by Foxy Boy Records in July 2002. More changes resulted in a new lineup...
