Album Review

OneRepublic adds many production flourishes to their second album Waking Up: sawing strings, children's choirs, minor-key piano, cavernous U2 reverb, long ponderous instrumental sections of piano and orchestra duets, a title track that bears echoes of the Killers. Despite all these new additions, OneRepublic’s calling card remains Ryan Tedder’s blend of atmospheric modern rock and rhythmic modern R&B affectations, creating a coolly slick collection of power ballads of love lost and won.

great album

another great album by onerepublic. for some reason, i like "everybody loves me" better than the other more "popular" singles.

Waking Up - First Thoughts

Just bought the cd right at midnight and just finished listening to it so I figured I'd give a quick review.

I love the cd, haven't decided yet if I like it better than Dreaming Out Loud or not. It seems pretty legit though.
There are a few weird sounding songs, but most of them are awesome and a few are down right incredible.
Below is a quick rating that I gave each song.

Made for You - 4/5
All the Right Moves - 4/5
Secrets - 5/5
Everybody Loves Me - 3/5
Missing Persons 1 & 2 - 3/5
Good Life - 4/5
All This Time - 5/5
Fear - 4/5
Waking Up - 5/5
Marchin On - 4/5
Lullaby - 4/5

The cd was about what I was expecting, with a few songs being way above par, I thought. I'd say it's a definite buy for anyone who enjoyed the first cd. Enjoy.

Updated sound, excellent album

OneRepublic's sophomore effort does not fail to please and proves they can hold their own in the competitive arena of alternative rock. Offering a more upbeat tempo than their first release, OneRepublic show off their skillful writing and musical creativity in this buzzing new album.

Featuring the anthemic songwriting of Ryan Tedder, OneRepublic rose to prominence in 2007, when "Apologize" began its reign as the most popular digital download in American history. Although the song proved to be a quick success, OneRepublic had spent five years touring the musical minor leagues before its release, with Tedder splitting his time between the band's work and production gigs for other artists. Tedder and Zach Filkins formed the band in 2002 and relocated to Los Angeles shortly thereafter,...
