25 Songs, 1 Hour 54 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Billy Joel had so many hits between 1973 and 1985 that this collection, first released on two CDs, couldn't include them all. Instead, it aimed to provide a coherent narrative of exactly what Joel accomplished during this period. It includes the concert classic "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" alongside well-known hits like "Piano Man," "Just the Way You Are," "My Life," and "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me."

WOW - Explicit?

I understand that songs like "Captain Jack" talk about somethings that probably shouldn't be talked about with someone under the age of 10, but calling it explicit? I remember some of the orginal reviews on this album (yes album, not CD). Most of the reviews put Mr. Joel's music in the "Bubble Gum Pop" areana at best. I usually say Apple (Itunes) is right on, but this one is WAY OFF!

Buyer Beware!

If this is the original Greatest Hits Collection, many of the songs are cut, My Life, in particular, is brutalized on the CD. I remember listening to The Stranger, 52nd Street, The Nylon Curtain, etc, later and being extremely disappointed that I had the Greatest Hits versions. Judging from the time column, many of the songs do not appear to be cut but again be careful. You can get all these songs on the original albums except for the final two. Overall, the collection is very good though. Billy's music is so eclectic that he can seemlessly move from lighter piano songs like "Piano Man" and "My Life" to songs like "Big Shot" and "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me." While this set by no means highlights some of his more interesting and enjoyable music, such as Stiletto and his forgotten gems on Cold Spring Harbor, if you want the basic intro to Billy Joel these twenty-five tracks are a good starter.

Great CD

Great CD. Why are they all listed EXPLICT? In this CD, Big Shot is the only song with ONE curse word. Otherwise, I loved it!
