Pau-Latina

Pau-Latina

After courting the U.S. market with an English album, the Latin pop star went back to singing in Spanish—but don't call Pau-Latina a return to roots. Instead, her sound is even more expansive, with driving electronic beats, fist-pumping arena-rock riffs ("Alma En Libertad" borrows one from John Mellencamp), and subtle touches of accordion and Spanish guitar. "Dame Otro Tequila" is about drinking to get over a breakup, but the festive music, complete with mariachi horns, sounds like the heartbreak is already miles away.
