Album Review

Mark Chesnutt's Greatest Hits does a fair job of summing up the neo-traditionalist's biggest hits, adding two new songs — "It's A Little Too Late" and "Let It Rain" — to the collection.

Some of the Best Music to Come out of Nashville During the Early 1990s

Mark Chesnutt's "Greatest Hits" CD compiles most of the best songs that Mark recorded between 1990 and 1996, and Mark made some of the best music to come out of Nashville during that time. He has a great voice that seems perfectly suited to sing this kind of music. Chesnutt's Greatest Hits stands out for three reasons. First, the songs tend to be a cut or two better than the typical stuff to come out of Nashville. Second, Chesnutt has one of the best voices of any male country singer who had success during the 1990s, and Third, Mark's music leans a good bit more toward "country" and away from "pop" than the music of many of his peers during the 1990s.

Chesnutt learned both guitar and drums, and made his professional singing debut with his father's band at age 15 on the local club scene. He even dropped out of...
