Paul McCartney's 2007 album Memory Almost Full received a huge promotional push, and McCartney played along, in part, with a Los Angeles concert at the Amoeba Records store in Hollywood. That 20-song set still awaits an official release, but this EP was issued as a tease for fans who hunger for anything Sir Paul puts his stamp on. The performances are quite full—not the intimate, acoustic performances you might be imagining; Amoeba is a huge store. A spirited run through “C Moon” and a killer version of “I Saw Her Standing There” are proof enough that on any given night this ex-Beatle can crank it out like the man he was some 40 years ago. Some might even argue that “Only Mama Knows” and “That Was Me,” both from Memory Almost Full, are best heard in these looser, live versions, as they show off more of McCartney’s charm than the professional studio versions.
With the Beatles. Solo. This man never ceases to amaze me.
Thanks iTunes, but incomplete
Good to see iTunes releasing more from Paul, no matter what it is. However, I've had this album in vinyl form direct from Amoeba's website for a year already. Besides getting the great sound vinyl offers, it also came with two more tracks than seen here from Apple: "Dance Tonight" and "House of Wax." Although I was not at this concert, I was at the Highline Ballroom show a few days prior, and let me tell you, any form to remember these tremendous secret gigs is surely a gem. Bootlegs are good sometimes, but nothing will beat a professionally mixed soundboard recording. Please iTunes, release more tracks from these shows!
Could this so call "Rihanna#fan1" please stop with this who is better, yes or no shinanagins because both Paul McCartney and John Lennon are amazing in their own respects and it really is not something that should be picked over. Anyways it's great to here some more work from Paul, and it's another job well done and shows that Paul has still got it.
