One of the Greatest Zaikos ever

This is on of the greatest Albums by Zaiko members that for the longest time seem to have disappeared in the shuffle. This is because it was not an official Zaiko album, rather J.P. Buse & Beniko Zangilu Popolipo de Zaïko Langa Langa. J.P. Buse (Buse Jean-Piere) joined Zaiko in 1980. Popolipo, however played with Vadio Mambenga, wemba's Isifi Lokole, and perhaps a bit on Wemba's Viva La Musica, but certainly played for Langa Langa Stars before joining Zaiko in early 1983 replacing Roxy Tshimpaka who had left for Langa Langa Stars towards the end of 1982.

Also contributing to this album is Lita Bembo on mixage and Carlito Lassa with production assistance. This masterpiece was released in 1986. Great compositions by both JP Buse and Popolipo coupled with Buse's immaculate voice, Zaiko's line up, and Popolipo's string wizardry elevated this album to rank among the best. Amour Thy Thy 'Na remains one of my all-time greatest songs; staying in my top Five for as far as I can remember. This song like the rest on the album serve as a monument of my childhood memories. Every song is a wonderful nostalgic journey back to a simpler life. I have listened to practically all of Zaiko's music and this one has stood the challenge of time...Take your time and enjoy it.

ZLL is one of the key groups of the Congolese New Wave: a nebulous coalition of up to 20 musicians who have thoroughly updated soukous by infusing it with an almost electric energy. Their key innovation has been to remove the horn section that had until recently defined Congolese music. The result is a much raunchier and more youthful sound. ZLL -- the name is a contraction of Zaire of Our Elders -- has spawned a veritable family of offspings, the so-called "Clan Langa Langa,"...
