Customer Reviews

Exceptional Ignored Christmas Album!

I bought this CD years ago basically by mistake--I thought it had songs on it I had heard on the radio. Fortunately for me, it was the wrong CD. Unfortunately for the Empire Brass, I have never heard any of these songs on the radio during Christmas. And that is a shame! This is one of the most interesting Christmas CDs I've ever heard. It has the most intruiging version of "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" ever recorded. This is due to both the arrangement and soloist Laurie Monahan. And talk about the voice of an angel--as they always do in reviews of Christmas CDs--listen to her sing Angels We Have Heard On High. In between her gorgeous songs are intriguing instrumentals. It is truly a little Christmas jewel.

A Great Christmas Album

Bought this CD years ago expecting 'traditional' arrangements for brass - and got more than I'd expected! Fabulous vocals, exceptionally creative yet respectful arrangements, and this CD has become part of my 'tradition' these past years. Highly recommended - and should get more airplay!
