Customer Reviews

Are you kidding me?

I'm not sure what offends me more: the fact that these people get away with calling themselves a military band, or the fact that enough people bought this tripe to boost it to the iTunes top 20 list. As a military bandsman, I can assure you that this group is not an indication of what we sound like. We're full-time, professional, world-class musicians. I, along with nearly half of all Air Force bandsmen, have a Masters degree in music. Please do yourself a favor and listen to an actual military band. The best ones (in no particular order) are: -The Air Force Band -The Air Force Academy Band -The US Navy Band -The US Naval Academy Band -The West Point Band -US Army Field Band -US Army Band "Pershing's Own" -US Marine Corps "President's Own" -Coast Guard Academy Band All our recordings are free. Simply call one of our offices and request an album.

Who is the American Military Band?

As the wife of an ACTUAL military band musician, this music not only offends me, but is a very poor representation of the military band system. What the military bands should do is find out who these musicians are and have the word military removed from their name. Actual military bands, especially the one my husband is in, sound MUCH better than this. And what is really upsetting is that enough people in this country think this album is good enough to go out and buy it in mass quantities. Why the hell is this album in the top 20? What about Eastman Wind Ensemble or the Dallas Wind Symphony? not support someone who calls themselves military when they absolutely are not, go out and support the musicians not only by buying quality music, but take a chance and actually go out and support your military by seeing them in person. And if you really want to hear the music of any of the armed forces bands, it is available at no cost to you through their websites. All you have to do is call them and they will be more than happy to send you a copy of the CD.

This CD had such promise. The official anthems of all of the branches of the service (except the Coast Guard), and the hymns of most of them. The Stars and Stripes Forever. Such great songs - it should be a great addition to the library of any American or march lover. Unfortunately, the performaces are, well, sloppy. Especially in things like the piccolo soli in Stars and Stripes - where you expect things to be very tight - it's just not there. And I was kind of hoping for more of "Anchors Aweigh" than just the trio. Even so, the album's not a bad album, if only for the selection of music.
