Moondance (Expanded Edition)

Moondance (Expanded Edition)

More than 40 years after its 1970 release, Van Morrison’s Moondance has been remastered and expanded to give fans a fuller view of the sessions that led to his most commercially successful solo album. On this expanded edition, the original set is accompanied by an 11-track "alternate" album that features eight of the album’s songs in alternate takes and mixes and three songs that never made it to the finished product, including the marvelously spirited “I Shall Sing” (which became a hit for Art Garfunkel), the outtake “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out,” and an early version of “I’ve Been Working,” a song that appeared on the His Band and the Street Choir album. These outtakes are among the highlights from the 60-track deluxe edition, which further explores the recording sessions with multiple, exhaustive takes of the songs listed here. Fans of the original album are treated to remastered sound on classics such as the Sinatra-like “Moondance,” the horn-driven “Caravan,” and the brooding and wondrous “Into the Mystic,” along with incredible previously unreleased takes.
