iTunes Review

Leah Siegel is from Brooklyn, but don’t hold that against her. While indie rock and pop music seem to bleed effortlessly from that distinguished borough these days, Siegel creates sounds that reside just outside the Brooklyn bubble. She’s a singer and instrumentalist, among other things (dancer, clothing designer), and her stellar band is made up of musicians who have played with Loudon Wainwright III, Sufjan Stevens, and others. There’s something a little outré about her music, and she’s capable of casting the kinds of spells that PJ Harvey and Cat Power are known for. In the hands of producer Geoff Stanfield (Sun Kil Moon, Moby), the hushed white space of “If You Don’t Want to Be Alone,” the seemingly carefree bounce of “Machete Gang Holiday,” and the bleak, torch-song feel of “My Left Eye” have a strange, dreamy quality that renders them something other than what they appear. “She’s a River” and “Our Hearts” hint at radio possibilities for Firehorse: their dark underbellies don’t quite override the cool, jazzy trip-hop vibe of the former or the melancholy, shadow-strewn pop of the latter.

Sublime

Thank you Firehorse! This is a beautiful record. Machete Gang Holiday is such a great rock out tune and If you don't want to be alone is an emotional coaster while Baby Bird and Our Hearts are dreamy rock grooves. If trapped on a desert Island, I'd definitely have Leah Siegel's voice on the must bring list.

Exquisite Journey For Your Palate!!!

Firehorse have delivered a potent wanderlust for all of our senses. Leah's multifaceted and seductive voice will invite you, spellbind you and keep you captivated.
The instrumentation is perfectly executed and could hold it's own as an ambient soundtrack or LP. THE AMAZING ACHIEVEMENT is the way in which both the music and Leah's voice compliment each other to "become one". ALL parts are working together in harmony, akin to an amoeba. As jazz musicians independently shine. They simultaneously anticipate, support and invite their fellow players to elevate…they "ascend to create the transcendent". This type of magic is present throughout the entire Firehorse album. Unique sonic blessings with lush orchestration and arrangements! "Our Hearts" hooks you in and leaves you wanting more. "Only the Birds" sweeps you from the alley, brings you to the heavens and back. "If You Don't Want to Be Alone" breaks your heart open. "My Left Eye" will take you back in time while speaking to you in the present. It also beautifully highlights Leah's dynamic vocal range and depth. Firehorse is breaking boundaries…this is a "must have"!!!
Many Thanks to Leah and Firehorse,

From start to finish a masterpiece!
