Gorgeous and dark

This has some of Hannah's best songs, although I wouldn't necessarily call it her strongest album as a whole. Through the Gash has better variety. However, what Gash doesn't have is instant favorites such as Vampire Waltz, and I Can't Let You In. Unfortunately, The Thing that Feels can get a little bit boring, as the sounds are very similar in composition.

That aside, this is fantastic music. It's so dark and wonderful, it makes my little semi-Gothic self want to curl up and die of beautifulness. I recommend this to any Emilie Autumn plague rats, in particular those who love her Enchant album, and also to fans of Autumn Tears, Dark Sanctuary, or even Black Tape for a Blue Girl, although the atmosphere is quite different, I find.

Note to iTunes: HANNAH FURY IS NOT POP. It's a travesty to stick Hannah Fury in the MileyBritneyGaga genre.

Haunting. Gets better with passage of time.

I have to admit that I tend to get sick of most female vocalists in my CD collection. Hannah Fury, Kate Bush and Happy Rhodes are the main exceptions to this trend. Her voice is honest and never gimmicky, and I find that the more I listen to the music, the more I like her voice. It is a very cohesive album with consistant quality from start to end. This music comes across like a soundtrack to an Edgar Allen Poe story or a Gorey drawing. For me the big standouts are Away, Not Like You and especially The Vampire Waltz, which caters to my soft spot for gothic vampire stories.

Pretty

Besides the fact that The Vampire Waltz is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, Hannah Fury is boring in that all the songs sound the same, and all put me to sleep. I love The Vampire Waltz, the sound and lyrics, but I do not like how all the rest of the songs are the same. The vocalist has a beautiful voice, she should vary the style more.
