Album Review

While L7 sounds tremendous on Hungry for Stink, the band has neglected to write any songs. But when you're caught in the middle of a massive guitar grind this good, songs don't matter much.

Amazing album

I have no idea what the ITunes reviewer is talking about. Worst review ever. This is a GREAT album, if you like guitar-based rock and you don't mind females rockin' (and if you do, then you wouldn't be reading this). This is easily L7's best album. Occasional missteps such as "Freak Magnet", "Riding With a Movie Star" and, especially, "Shirley" are more than compensated for by the excellent (and quite catchy) "Andres", the peeling paint off walls voice of Donita Sparks on Baggage, the not-often heard subject matter of "Can I Run" (the constant fear women live with of sexual assault), and the deep, dark mindspace of "Questioning My Sanity", the power of "Fuel My Fire", the beauty of "She Has Eyes", the dirge-like and hypnotic "Talk Box". If you have any love for L7 and any love for women who don't take no guff (and this is comin' from a guy), then buy this album and learn about the power of the female unchained!

The seeds for L7 (whose name was taken from a slang term in the '50s that meant someone who was a "square") were planted in 1985, when a pair of guitarist/singers, Suzi Gardner and Donita Sparks, decided to start a band. Over the next few years, the group extended its lineup to include bassist Jennifer Finch and drummer Dee...
