Plant continues to Evolve

Love how people say..."It's Not Zeppelin! It's Not as good as Zeppelin!" Get over it. Artists evolve and change. This is the music he's making right now. You don't have to get on board if you don't want. Robert Plant's current rootsy tendencies are cool in my opinion. Just another side of one of Rock's most unique voices.

Some of you are CRAZY!

Clearly those that are saying that “This isn’t Zeppelin,” or this doesn’t SOUND like Zeppelin” are out of their minds and are obviously not as familiar with the band’s music as they’d like people to believe. This song is easily comparable to songs like “Friends” & “Bron-Y-Aur Stomp” off of Led Zepellin III & “Black Country Woman” off of Physical Graffiti. Now, if you can say that this doesn’t sound like Zeppelin, then I suppose you could say the same thing about “Down By The Seaside” also on Physical Graffiti.

All this aside, while I feel that this does in fact sound like Zeppelin; it’s a Robert Plant single. Why would it have to be a prerequisite for Robert Plant to release any material that sounds like his former band?

Now Listen to the Los Lobos Original

Robert Plant asked Hidalgo and Perez to perform their wonderful song, Angel Dance. In July, Plant performed with Los Lobos at Taste of Chicago and had them participate in filming of his video for Angel Dance that is forthcoming. Plant's Band of Joy does a wonderful job on this cut, but it gives the listener motivation to go back to the original artist and listen to Los Lobos version of this song or better yet, go see Lobos "live" as they will astound you. 30 years down and no letting-up. Their new album Tin Can Trust is superb and will be released in August. Let's hope for a collaboration between Lobos and Plant down the road.
