Customer Reviews

With 6 fantastic tracks, we can only hope that more music will be coming from Nees and Vos very soon – and jump on in when it does come! (I Ain’t) Going Back to Georgia - This track is fun, energetic, and the bass line really drives the song. Very sing-along-able. This one would be fantastic live! Listen between the lines. :) Angel – a soulful, solid, driving rock track. Fantastic verses. Mesmerizing drive. Amazing energy. Catchy chorus - especially the return with Matt’s dynamic set playing, then Vos’s extraordinary guitar paired beautifully with organ. Yes, we'll be here to listen! Baby love is precious :) Pretty Girl – a smoky, soulful, genius song. Soulfully edgy from the opening bass and guitar licks, it’s obvious this is going to be good - better than good. The lyrics are painfully brilliant. By the time your eyes are closed, grooving to this song, the trumpets kick in and it becomes an instant favorite. The mixture of the trumpet, guitar, organ, piano, and vocal solos makes this song the most memorable, extraordinary, modern soulful track out there. Listen to it. You will love it. Then you’ll listen again. Ain't No Sunshine - This may be my favorite song just due to the complexities in the backgrounds. Just watch your bass settings on this one! Vos’s voice is an extraordinary match for this song – smooth, yet edgy. Andy's trumpet playing punches with a classy expression, always dynamic and sensitive. The dynamic fluctuations, variance in the backgrounds, and overall intricacy of this track are exciting innovations on a classic. Hey DJ - This song starts out subtly with organ, some great beats from Matt on drums and some great vocals/falsetto vocals, giving it a very unique vibe. Listen for the trumpet gliss – which sneaks back in during the trombone solo. Outstanding. I don't need to restate the obvious - Wycliffe Gordon has a remarkable solo...once you can get beyond his greatness, start listening back, and the complexities will assure you that this is not only a talented, soulful band, but that the producing is intellectually brilliant. I love this song! Johnny Boy - I hardly feel capable of commenting on this soulful, deep, meaningful rendition of Danny Boy. A very emotional and powerful; a fitting tribute. Vos's moving vocals truly make this a touching, dramatic track. More music, please :)

I can't help but move....

This is one of my new favorite discs. I really can't help but move when I lisen to Georgia and Pretty Girl in particular. I really think that the mixing/mastering on Angel is great, and every one should check out the awesome trombone solo on Hey DJ.

I love love love these guys!!! I saw their show in NYC and it was unbelievable...they're one of those bands that you can tell loves to create music and it's obvious in every song. Trust me...if you don't know their music you will soon :)
