Tour de force

L.T. Gray

Susie Fitzgerald shows several styles on this album and does them all well. I talk with my friends about our favorite songs on the "Plenty" album, and it depends on who and where you are when you're listening. If you like country with a touch of bluegrass, there are "Bring in the Light", "No Drinkin' Alone", and "Drover's Prayer". "You Won't Say No" and "Making, Making, Someday Made" are deeply felt Americana tunes. I like "Angelico", "Safe Harbor" and the title track when I'm an adult contemporary mood, and there's a rock-anthem-in-the-making with "Peacetime Now". "Frozen Sky" is a folk road tune based on a traditional melody, and there's even a "Lullaby for Baby". Each one hits its own spot, and each one sounds great.

I'm amazed by the people that joined Susie in the studio on this album. If you know the Americana, country and rock scenes, you know who Eddie Bayers, Tammy Rogers King, Steve Nathan, Troy Lancaster, Gary Morse and Larry Beaird are. There's a lot going on among them for this album, and like the songs, each musician gets his or her time to shine. What can I say? I like them all.

Susie Fitzgerald has put together a philosophical set of song from her heart. She shows real promise as a writer who can speak to this cusp generation of not boomers and not Xers. Somewhere in between. Peace Time Now!!
