brutality never sounded so good

I like a lot of metal but in general I prefer more technical, melodic death metal bands such as opeth, into eternity, etc over more extreme death metal/grindcore bands. Cephalic Carnage is an interesting band because they are indeed extreme but at the same time include a healthy dose of "technicity." For instance, listen to the track "Wraith," one of my favs. it starts out relatively fast paced and in an instant the tempo changes into a slow, crushing dark melody that is, well, awesome. this band is no doubt one of the most talented and interesting in the extreme metal genre.

CEPHALIC CARNAGE. anomalies. the best cephalic cd to date. anomalies blows all other metal out of the water. perfect transitions from precise blastbeats, to slow blues/jazz influence riffs, to mid paced, smoked out, melodic jams, keeping you wondering whats next. amazing vocals. great production. each band members' contributions fit together like puzzle pieces. they definitely put their decaying hearts into this cd and you can feel it. this cd might be worth selling your soul for.

Talk about cheesy lyrics, drummers always doubling; this album is amazing with being extremely intense and technical yet humorous and crazy. BR00TALY AWESOME

Soon after their reformation they released a second demo, Fortuitous Oddity, and then hit the road on a self-financed tour across the U.S. in 1997. It was during this tour that the band's...
