Sundazed Music has released Another Side of This Life, 18 previously unheard demo recordings of Gram Parsons, country-rock pioneer and former member of the Byrds and founding member of the Flying Burrito Brothers.The release--available on CD and 180-gram vinyl--features Parsons, singing and playing acoustic guitar, recorded from March 1965 to April 1966 at the home of his Winter Haven, Fla. friend, Jim Carlton.


This is a real surprise. Just Gram and his guitar, but the sound quality is good, the songs are great and his voice is just about in the best shape I've ever heard. Can a more informed listner enlighten us? Are these covers? Other than Candy Man (Roy Orbison) and Brass Buttons (GP), I haven't heard these songs before. What a great pleasure to find this addition to his unfortunately limited catalogue!

Gram's First Love

I'm pretty sure these songs were recorded when Gram was still in Florida and only about 20 years old. His first love, before he discovered country music, was folk. This is a great example of young Gram developing his own style.
