iTunes Review

Few groups have had a more misleading band name than The Zombies. Their music had nothing to do with gory horror-movie imagery (which many other rock bands took up in the following decades). Instead, The Zombies made sensuous '60s mainstream pop that survives on classic rock radio with "She's Not There," "Tell Her No," and "Time of the Season." Colin Blunstone went on to a respected solo career, while Rod Argent led the '70s-styled Argent. Hardcore Zombies fans rightfully obsess over 1968's incorrectly spelled masterpiece Odessey & Oracle. And over the years, Blunstone & Argent have performed together as themselves and as The Zombies, with similar results. This 2011 album has gone in and out of release. It features a handful of songs that recall the beauty of their vintage work. "Play It for Real" adds a guitar lick close in spirit to The Beatles' "Hey Bulldog." The title track reflects the overt sexual tension of their old hits.

Buy It - For Real!

I would buy almost anything involving Rod Argent or Colin Blunstone. Having admitted that, let me say "This is great stuff!". Argent's signature keyboards and Colin's incomparable voice, along with some great material make this a winner. If you liked "Argent" or Colin's solo work, you should love this. Of course, if you are familiar with that body of work you probably own this already. Don't expect this to sound like the Zombies of the 60's. Don't get me wrong I love that stuff. But they have evolved, matured. And if you are lucky enough to have a chance to see them live...DO IT!!!
So many of the great artists of that era are gone, or have lost the creative edge. Not Rod and Colin. They are as great as ever. Buy it - for real!

Breath n breath out -The zombies

Great job on the new LP. Just attended their concert sat night in Niagara Falls. They did several songs from the new LP as well as their great oldies. For a couple of old guys in their late 60s' they played and sang like kids. What a show.

Still great after all these years

got this cd at their concert in conn. 3 weeks ago. If you ever get to see them DO IT, you won't be disappointed

Aside from the Beatles and perhaps the Beach Boys, no mid-'60s rock group wrote melodies as gorgeous as those of the Zombies. Dominated by Colin Blunstone's breathy vocals, choral backup harmonies, and Rod Argent's shining jazz- and classical-influenced organ and piano, the band sounded utterly unique for its era. Indeed, the Zombies' material -- penned by either Argent or guitarist Chris White, with unexpected shifts from major to minor keys -- was perhaps too adventurous for the singles market....
