Editors’ Notes

After the artistic success of the country music EP Town Line, Staind's Aaron Lewis has put together a full-length album celebrating all things country & western. Lewis is a natural, too. He sounds completely at home with an acoustic guitar, a pedal steel, and thick county harmonies supporting these tales of classic Americana. "Endless Summer" relishes a world of sun, fun, and fast cars. "Red, White & Blue" sways as a sweet and sentimental look at a military family and the importance of tradition and standing up for your freedoms. "Lessons Learned" features more homespun wisdom, while "Grandaddy's Gun" and "State Lines" sound like heartland rockers that any number of lifelong country singers could have put on their albums. Not bad for a rock kid from Longmeadow, Mass. The deluxe version adds five acoustic bonus tracks, including Town Line's "Country Boy."

Customer Reviews

Album as good as the live show

Just saw Aaron Lewis live performing 'The Road". Excellent songs in a 180 degree turn away from Staind. All Staind fans should open their minds and musical tastes and enjoy like I have.

This is Country music.

Who would have thought that a rocker covered in tattoos from Massachusetts would renew my faith in new country music.

The road

In total agreement staind is was and always be a band I will never forget but to many fans are forgetting the vocals and lyrics that fronted that band he has grown has kids and from the start songs like outside showed true fans what he was always like A TRULY GIFTED MUSICIAN. Dysfunction, tormented, break the cycle etc. are still there for all true fans listining pleasures

Genre: Country

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

At the heart of Staind's loud, angst-laden music are the confessional lyrics and introspective personality of frontman Aaron Lewis. While other post-grunge bands were successful in mining the dark caverns once explored by Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, Lewis allowed his sensitivity to pour freely from his words and often pensive vocals, enabling Staind to strike a balance between heavy metal bombast and thoughtful, melodic rock. Born in Springfield, Vermont, Lewis listened to folk music as a child....
