Editors’ Notes

This soundtrack to Mike Nichols’ film The Graduate features the music of Simon & Garfunkel and Dave Grusin. Thus began a soundtrack tradition that continues to the present of offering alternate takes and mixes of songs by popular artists along with a film’s incidental music. Nichols didn't care for Paul Simon’s new compositions beyond “Mrs. Robinson,” which appears here in two fragments. (The full version, along with the rejected “Punky’s Dilemma” and “Overs,” appear on Bookends.) So, the new S&G material here consists of those fragments, an alternate take of “The Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine,” and a strong re-recording of “The Sound of Silence—Reprise.”

Customer Reviews

Great Movie=Great Soundtrack

If you love the movie, you should buy the soundtrack. Evertime you hear it on you iPod you will think about all the meaning behind it. Its not worth it to buy the whole album but probably just Mrs. Robinson or The Sound of Silence or April Come She Will. The rest of the songs are good still, though.

iTunes please get the movie.

ITUNES GET THE MOVIE!!!

Many also feel that Simon, as both a singer and songwriter, didn't truly blossom until he began his own hugely...
