Customer Reviews

Listen at night.

This is record is only to be listened to at night, preferably late. Aquemini is Outkast's masterpiece. They have yet to match this one.

Hip Hop Classic

I agree with the other reviewer that Aquemini is not only the true masterpiece from a legendary group...but should always be mentioned in any discussion with "classic" albums... OutKast became true visionaries, pioneers & legends WITH this opus. Oddly, I still fee as if they are an underrated hip hop group even to this day. Many claim to be the King of the South.. and while I know southern acts came before OutKast, i.e. Geto Boys, 8Ball & MJG, UGK & even 2 Live Crew to an extent...OutKast truly made the South a force...& paved the way for many new, very worthwhile acts... however for ANYone to claim to be King of the South...NOT named Big Boi & Andre 3000 is just lying to the world & themselves... OutKast will go down as not only true hip hop legends but also pure genius in the artform of music as a whole...believe that!

One of the best rap albums ever

This album is one of the most creative and innovative ever in the rap genre. The lyrics are real, the beats are incredible. Outkast won over a lot of fans with Rosa Parks and Skew it on the Bar-B but the real music on this album is on tracks like Liberation and Da Art of Storytellin. This album is up there with Notorious BIG Ready to Die and Wu-Tang's Enter the 36 Chambers.

Biography

Formed: 1992 in Atlanta, GA

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

OutKast's blend of gritty Southern soul, fluid raps, and the low-slung funk of their Organized Noize production crew epitomized the Atlanta wing of hip-hop's rising force, the Dirty South, during the mid to late '90s. Along with Goodie Mob, OutKast took Southern hip-hop in bold and innovative directions: less reliance on aggression, more positivity and melody, thicker arrangements, and intricate lyrics. After Dré and Big Boi hit number one on the rap charts with their first single, "Player's...
