Reseña de álbum

Cynics might point out the reality that greatest-hits packages on artists who have left a label are a ploy to milk the consumer, but the consumers care more about a solid package full of their favorite songs from the artist. The new Acoustic Alchemy (with Miles Gilderdale replacing the late founding guitarist, Nick Webb, as Greg Carmichael's partner) is riding high on Higher Octave Music, but the material on this collection — part of a new GRP collection series — will always be, to the true Acoustic Alchemy fan, the real deal. AA's post-Webb sound is fancy and feisty, extremely soulful, and very attractive. Yet, there's something more intimate about the way Carmichael and Webb interacted; theirs was a union of true musical soul mates. This wonderful 16-track collection from their GRP and earlier MCA "Master Series" projects was chosen and sequenced by their manager, Stewart Coxhead, and he smartly picks all the crowd favorites: "Mr. Chow," "Catalina Kiss," "Same Road, Same Reason," and more. The range from pop to Latin to reggae is fun to experience again. There's obviously a poignancy to all this because of Webb's 1998 death, but it's more important to celebrate the legacy. As syndicated radio host and Catalina Island Jazz Trax festival promoter Art Good says simply in his liner notes, "These are good songs." More importantly, they speak of an innocent time, the early days of smooth jazz when even the gentlest of these could become radio hits.

Truly the 'Very Best" of Acoustic Alchemy

I had heard about Acoustic Alchemy for several years, but somehow never got around to purchasing any of their music, until I purchased this album. This collection -- the VERY BEST OF -- literally blew me away! Every song in this collection has such a wonderful "happy" quality (sorry . . . don't mean to sound cheesy -- but "happy" is as appropriate a word as I can find), and you will get hooked immediately, as did I. Since purchasing this collection, I have also purchased another collection of theirs, American/English, which, though different, is exemplary nonetheless.

Acoustic Alchemy's awesome

I love how they mix awesome acoustic guitar with drums, it seems like it isn't enough, but they mix the two beautifuly together to make a sound that's not only relaxing, but very good and refreshing

The Very Best of Acousitc

This album is wonderful. It is soft sexy lively. It's just wonderful for listening together or alone it's a dreamers album. I find it a great music muse for my writing. Bravo

During the late '80s and '90s, Nick Webb and Greg Carmichael produced a series of mellow albums classified as adult contemporary music, though the guitarists encompass the range of jazz and new age as well. Both grew up in England during the '60s listening to pop/rock, though Webb studied jazz guitar at Leeds College of Music while Carmichael focused on classical guitar at the London College of Music. Originally formed by Webb and Simon James, Acoustic Alchemy later became Webb and Carmichael; the...
