Customer Reviews

In the vein of Farish and Blue Stone.

'7and5' is the "New Age" alias of John Nixon, whose music in my opinion, has the same feel as fellow artists: Blue Stone and Ryan Farish. His approach, in not unlike John Adorney's layered compostional renderings, mixed-in with a peaceful, soft-backing, female vocalise. These songs are not as 'placid' as 2002's pastoral offerings, but are geared toward quiet personal introspection. This album has enough musical changes, to make it eminently 'listenable', and move-it beyond a mere exercise in staid 'elevator music'. A number of these cuts would blend well into a 'playlist' populated with artists like: Bernward Koch, Kevin Kern, Amethystium, Liquid Mind, Ann Sweeten, and Enya too. As with most "New Age" efforts, it isn't 'earth-shaking' material, but it is a very well-polished effort, which seeks to peacefully 'uplift' the listerner. I awarded the album 'four stars', only because of it's familiar "New Age" territory. A lot of artists, in this genre fall into the 'trap' of becoming caricatures of themselves, by repeating their own past formulaic efforts. As long as the right balance is struck, between 'wide-eyed' innocence and innovation, a "New Age" album will almost always succeed. This one does. Recommended.

Hope, Destiny, and Choice

7and5, previously unknown to me, is now one of my favorite "new age" groups of artists...I haven't listened to a single song that I don't like !! They are super talented.... a perfect blend of instruments and harmony.

New Age with a beat

Another 7and5 album worthy of any New Age collection. There is something about their relaxing melodies with a beat. Soothing, but still keeps you connected to the music.
