Finally! Her debut album!

Incase you never have heard of her, Uffie is the chick that Ke$ha ripped off a lot of material from. They also have very similar vocals. Too make it clear to all the Ke$ha fans... UFFIE CAME FIRST!!

The Real Deal

Uffie is an artist with so much potential, she lays down the track like straight up! Uffie is the real deal.

Solid debut that's long overdue.

As someone who's been a fan of Uffie since she was still in her underground days, it's incredible how much she's matured and progressed as an artist. And while it's not perfect, her debut is mostly really strong, and it's definitely worth the wait. Here's a breakdown track-by-track what I thought:

Pop the Glock- Classic (her first single, from 2006), fun, and very early 2000s sounding. 6/10
Art of Uff- Holy hell, this one blew me away. Compare her flow here to the previous track, and it just shows how good she's gotten. The beat is sparse and tense, and the lyrics are pure Uff. 9/10
ADD SUV (feat. Pharrell)- Least favorite of the album. Pharrell's rap is good, but Uffie just sounds bored. 4/10
Give it Away- Surprising, very sweet. Beat is very juvenile and evocative of childhood nostalgia. 7/10
MCs Can Kiss- Fast, quirky and catchy. Her flow on this one is crazy. 8/10
Difficult- One of the best tracks on the album. Simple, but the piano riff and beat is catchy as fuuuuh. 8/10
First Love- Absolutely perfect. A gorgeous, beautifully written rap that's completely honest and raw; the sampled beat from F.R. David's "Don't Go" is haunting. It's always been my favorite song of hers, and it sounds just as fresh here. 10/10
Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans- Sounds faded high and a little psychadelic. Not sure what to think of this one, but the guitar solo halfway through is sick. 7/10
Our Song- Despite her honesty in the opening lines, don't think I like this one too much. 5/10
Illusion of Love- Along with "Difficult" and "Art of Uff", this is one of the best on the album. Pure psychadelia and acid-high beauty. 9/10
Neuneu- Really fun. Her flow is good, and the chorus is catchy and great party-material. 7/10
Brand New Car- Ehh. An old B-side she did, and it's decent, but it doesn't stand out from the others. It'll stand out more in my memory because I heard it on the radio at a store when I was in Japan last year. 5/10
Hong Kong Garden- Cute cover. It's not too different from the original, other than the electronica, which is nice. 7/10
Ricky- A little weak, and not a good official end to the album. 5/10
[Bonus Tracks]
Pop the Glock (Mirwais Pop Remix)- It's ok...The beat is good, but that's about it. 5/10
ADD SUV (Carte Blanche Remix) [feat. Pharrell Williams]- AWESOME IMPROVEMENT on the original. Dance-floor worthy and just tasty electronica candy. 8/10

All-in-all there's plenty of really yummy great stuff on here, but a few tracks bring it down a little. It's not yet enough to make it feel uneven as a whole though, and Uffie's talent is so clearly evident here. She's been around for a few years, but this feels like her real declaration of arrival.

And forget what you heard, or what's currently more popular- Uffie came wayyy before Ke$ha ever hit the scene. :) Buy this now, it's worth it.~

Born: 1987 in Miami, FL

Genre: Electronic

Years Active: '00s

With her girlishly playful yet stiff delivery, her raunchy lyrics, and the spare electro beats that surround them, Uffie draws comparisons to female MCs of the '80s like the ladies of L'Trimm and Salt-N-Pepa. Born Anna-Catherine Hartley in Miami, FL, Uffie moved a lot during her childhood, living in places including Hong Kong and Fort Lauderdale; by the time she was 15, she and her father had settled in Paris. She became involved in the city's dance music scene after dating DJ Feadz (whom she met...
